Racing returns to Placer County Fair line-up

The All American Speedway will host their Open Wheel Spectacular on Saturday, June 23, plus an Enduro race on Sunday, June 24, as part of the annual Placer County Fair entertainment line-up.

The Speedway has taken a hiatus the last couple of years during the Fair, but John Javidan who is now managing both the Speedway and the Placer County Fair thinks it will be a great opportunity to introduce the Speedway's race program to a new group of potential fans.

Saturday's line-up includes NSCS Modifieds, Pro 4 Modifieds, NCMA Sprints, and BCRA Midgets, on the one-third mile paved oval.  Sunday's feature will be  a 200 lap West Coast Enduro. Admission to the races is $13, which includes admission to the Fair.

Both race events are bound to generate some exciting short track action.  During the recent NCMA Sprints race on May 23, the No. 24 car of Bob Dias went airborne over the No. 7 driven by Steve Amador, causing No. X Dan Ariaz to T-bone the No. 7.  In the Modifieds event on the same night Dan Swartz's No. 3 went airborne over No. 14 Chase Grigsby, after a three-way collision in turn two, miraculously landing on all four wheels.  All the drivers walked away, but the cars weren't so lucky.

On Sunday, the Enduro race is pretty much a wreck waiting to happen as drivers take to the track after it has been thoroughly covered in soap suds.  The crazy slippy-slide that is created means lots of fender benders and spin-outs. Everything that falls off gets left on the track so now drivers are dodging debris as well as other drivers.

Tickets will be available at the gate as well as in advance at the Fair Office, 800 All America City Blvd. Roseville  For more information visit AllAmericanSpeedway.com or call 916 796-2023.

The Fair will be held June 21-24.
